A lab-created biron emerald has the same chemical and gemological composition the same as a natural emerald.  There are different methods of synthetically making emeralds. The lab created emeralds that have the best quality and clarity are usually made using the hydrothermal method.  This is done under conditions of high pressure and temperature, in which dissolved minerals are introduced. The temperature and pressure is maintained at such a level that the minerals that come out of the solution grow crystals over a certain period of time.
The other method of making lab grown emeralds is by the flux method. In this method, a substance (flux) is used to aid or promote the formation of crystals, without becoming a part of the crystal. However, it is often seen that in flux created emeralds, wispy veil-like inclusions are present, which is why emeralds created by the hydrothermal process are said to be superior in nature.
