ORIGINAL  Antique & Vintage 1800's
SILVER  JUG
With Lapis lazuli, rubies, enamel etc.

This is a
Jug made of: silver, lapis lazuli, small half natural pearls, rubies and vitreous enamel.
This
jug seems to have been made in the late 1800's in Austria. It's outside metal parts are made of silver (I tested them with acid, because there are no Hallmarks at all, probably silver 800).
The lapis lazuli was cut into strips. Some of those strips were cutted in two or three parts. It seems that some of those strips have been replaced at some point due to some differences in their polishing.
Anyway the piece is complete and without missing parts.
Both the base and the top of the j
ug
(made in silver) are covered with
vitreous
enamel of various colors
. In some parts the enamel is missing, but are still in very good condition after all.
Around the handle of the j
ug
there are 29 small natural
round
rubies and at the top of the base there are another 15 rubies, also round, but in this case cabochon cut
.
There are 24 small natural half pearls on top of the jug.
On the edge of the jug handle you can see a sculpted female face.
The inside of the jug is not gilted.
The total weight of the jug is 324 grams.
The entire jug can be disassembled by removing a nut on the base.
Inside it (not visible) there is a tube holding all the structure made of bronze.
Condition: the jug is in very good conditions with minor marks consistent with the item's age.
