, a rare large
plate or shallow bowl
with a remarkable
hand-hammered
finish.
13½″ (34cm) in diameter.
2⅛″ (5.4cm) in height.
Weighs approximately
2½ pounds (
~
1100 grams)
. It was too heavy for our fine scale.
Perfectly circular in shape, with hallmarks on the bottom at the center, inside of the simple applied circular base. See photos.
The star with the
G
in it is the hallmark of German silversmith
Jakob Grimminger
. Founded in 1893 in Schwäbisch Gmünd, his firm produced fine silver in the Arts & Crafts, Art Nouveau, and Art Deco styles.
Has been in storage for years and needs polishing.
